Social and ethical
Social and environmental responsibility underpins everything we do, from the way we treat our colleagues to what we do with our profits. The money we make goes towards improving our service, rewarding our members and helping worthwhile projects.
We believe in the power of business to bring about a social change where society profits. At the request of our members we set up a Development Fund to support the growth of co-operatives and social enterprises around the country.
We’ve supported over 20 Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies including renewable energy projects, community-owned pubs, supporter-owned football clubs, and providers of local services in remote areas from transport to super-fast broadband.
Here’s a few of the enterprises we are supporting:
- Wedmore Community Power
- Drumlin Wind Energy
- Charwelton Community Pub
- Community-owned football club, FC United of Manchester
We always aim to be fair and transparent in the way we conduct our business. We are a Fair Tax pioneer and a Living Wage employer. We are approved to use the Social Enterprise Mark.
